Finding the right suppliers was a major factor in deciding who would be a part of the business from the very beginning of the project. From the brand designer to the gem cutters, each stage of the brand, product and company required creators in many different fields.
As the founder, I spent months searching out people and companies that I thought would suit the project best, but also the people I wanted to work with the most. In all my time working with huge brands and successful founders, one of the most resounding messages was that the most important part of any company and the foundation of its success were the people.
For this post I want to talk about STRATO, our eyewear partner based in the north of Italy. I visited the factory in Veneto, an area known as the core of Italy’s eyewear production. The small factory is based about an hour's drive north of Venice. There I met Camilla Stramare, 2nd generation eyewear specialist, who now runs the company her parents started 30 years ago alongside her brother.
Family is a big part of my life and a staple of Italian culture. When I heard how STRATO started and its evolution over time, as well as some great initial conversations with Camilla, I knew that this was the group of people I wanted to work with.
While showing me around the factory, Camilla explained all of the individual processes and components that make the Made In Italy trademark what it is. Along with the fact the product must be made in Italy, what Camilla was passionate about expressing is who creates the product, the fact the product is made by Italians and that any reputable Italian manufacturer doesn’t just want to create something to sell, they want to create something beautiful to put into this world. With so many luxury products being made in such great volume, there has been a range of backlash saying the quality of these luxury goods that are being produced by big fashion houses has massively dropped. Sabatino Cometa is extremely proud of who makes our Eyewear Jewellery and the values and ethics our product represents.
Buona giornata!
